Greetings,

As the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the National Giveback for Kids Campaign (NGBFKC), I believe we all have a universal call to action – preserving our future. This is a goal that can be accomplished in many ways. But I'm especially passionate about one way in particular, investing in our youth. As a cameraman with a major news organization in the No. 1 market in the nation, I frequently witness the horrific violence and neglect that takes place amongst our children.

Unfortunately, these instances have formed memories that are hard to erase. However, these very experiences have also become my personal motivation to inspire change. I realized that though I was an observer to these tragedies, I could do my part to break the cycle of abuse.

As a participant in the Give Back campaign, I am able to be part of the solution by being a volunteer. Youth organizations need volunteers in the form of role models, educators, coaches, life skills trainers, and others who are able to give of themselves and talents. Through volunteering, you are equipping today's children with the necessary skills and knowledge to be tomorrow's productive adults.

Do know that each of us has a torch that exists within. Those of us who shine brightly must reach out to light someone else's torch to extinguish darkness and hopelessness.

So, I ask you to invest your time as a volunteer and let the Give Back campaign be your agent of change. Let's all do our part to preserve the future.

Scott Pierce is a photographer/editor for My 9 News and Fox 5. He is responsible for shooting, editing and the operation of "microwave" news trucks for daily live coverage of news. Over his 21 years of service, Scott has covered countless live events such as: The inauguration of President Obama in Washington DC. He has also covered Presidential events at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in NY with President George Bush, the Popes Visit to NY, and at St. Patricks Cathedral continuous coverage of "911, The bombing of the World Trade Center", as it was happening.

Studio camera experience includes several Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethons. Performances with Sammy Davis Jr, Tony Bennett, Liza Minelli. Ben Vereen and many more. Scott a graduate of New York Institute of Technology in Westbury, New York is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc and a founder of The National Give Back for Kids Campaign, Inc. Scott was chosen in February 2011 as Mc Donald’s Black Media Legend and was honored at the Waldorf-Astoria. He and his wife, Hope, have three children.
