M. Marisa Di Pietro
Graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Born in Pisa, Italy. Work experience includes translating and interpreting for companies in US and Italy, eight years working at a USArmy base in Tirrenia, Italy, 16 years working at North Suffolk Mental Health Center in Boston and currently employed at the East Boston Social Centers, a small multi service non profit, as Development Director since 2004. The Social Centers programs serve primarily minority low income children and families. Services include 4 Day Care Centers, 2 After School programs, an at-risk teen program, a summer day camp, an elderly social club, and an elderly nutrition program. As Development Director, many hours are spent researching and writing grant proposals to new funders, writing renewal grant proposals to current funders, preparing mid year and final reports, planning and organizing major fundraising events, publishing agency newsletters, preparing bulk mailings, and putting together the agency’s Annual Report. Additional responsibilities are to coordinate all volunteer placements and corporate volunteer day events, public relations, newspaper press releases, and photos. Community affiliations include President of the Kiwanis Club of East Boston (2008-2011), Board member of the East Boston Chamber of Commerce, and Secretary of the Bay State Chapter of Freedoms Foundation.
